(Bert?) Yasso found that for many people there is a coincidental correlation between 800m repeats in minutes to marathon time in hours. It's one way to see if you are in the ballpark for your marathon goal without having to find out during the race. So according to this method, if your marathon goal is 3 hours, you should be able to do 10x800m repeats at a 3 minute pace, with a 3 minute recovery in-between. But keep in mind, each of us is an experiment of one.
