There are 2 conditions that often influence ITB issues and both can go undetected for quite a while.
1 - A leg-length discrepancy. Don't laugh. Most people have some degree of difference (just as most people have one foot that's longer than the other) but many don't know it. When this condition is at play, your hips not properly aligned. That in turn, leads to ITB woes. Solution: insert a heel lift in one shoe.
2 - A pelvic tilt. This mimics a leg-length discrepancy. One hip is pulling higher than the other, due to spinal misalignment — again, leading to ITB woes. I've had this myself and a chiropractor put me right within 3 adjustments.
