while it's true that a race is usually more intense than a training run, I have used half marathons for long runs by simply adding a six mile jog at the beginning as a warm up and then it's less than a mile afterwards as a cool down... many plans only require 18 on their long runs, but more miles per week...let us know what you did and how you feel it worked for you, both this week and after the marathon.. -Rita
