I have recently been diagnosed with a torn labrum in my right hip. Although the doc says it's small (less than 1 cm), it still HURTS when I do everything, including running. He said I could continue to run, which is good, but I should watch my distances. I am signed up to run the Columbus marathon, and am trying to switch to the half marathon (they haven't called me back yet). My question is this - since my doc didn't give me any course of treatment for this injury other than NSAID, ice and stretch, what should I do? How long will it take for it to heal. I am tired of running with this pain. I have added close to three minutes to my per mile pace (from around 9:30 ish to 12:30). Should I stop running altogether until it's better, should I find a doc who will surgically repair it, or what? I am kind of confused, and it is really discouraging me from running. All I do is manage my pain. Those NSAIDS don't work at all!!!!
