Running through pain may be fine if is just the consequence of being tired, but when you have noticeable injuries you're taking the risk of not being able to run for a long time. Most of us run marathons, not sprint distances, and we want to keep running for a long time. Injuries happen, but there will always be another marathon so we can give ourselves time to heal.
I suspect that lots of us could relay to you stories of the marathon we had doubts about running but... Starting while injured is a recipe for a long lay off. I am glad you are not going there.
