I'm following the NYC ING beginner's program. I run avg.15 miles per week besides my long run. I am slow so my pace does not vary much. I avg. 12 min/mile pace. I ran a 1/2 marathon last March and finished with a 11:36 pace. I would like to finish this full marathon in 5:00(11:27 min/mile pace)which I will not be able to do unless I figure out how to keep my legs from becoming so stiff and fatigued. I drink water along the way, I'm guessing 1 or 1 1/2 liters with some gatorade (8 oz) I take Gu every 45 min. My last 16 miler should have been 18 miler, but my legs said NO! next week it's 20 miler. I don't want to walk across that finish line.
