I used to take several (for "fat burning", "energy", etc.) until I read a study by a New Zealand athletic commission that debunked the supplements I was taking. Of course there is the placebo effect, but I didn't notice any drop in my performance when I stopped taking l-carnatine, et. al.
I would think in terms of proper nutrition—enter everything you eat for a period of 3 weeks at a website like www.fitday.com and see what your diet might be lacking (I came up short on calcium and protein).
It was helpful for me to think in terms of real food and not pills to get needed nutrients. Good luck.
