I forgot -- In the Big Sur "clinic pack", it talks actually about Gummi Bears as a good suggestion for some people in re "quick energy"/carbs. I tried Sharkies instead (b/c they are fructose, and they also have electrolytes in them) (available at Trader Joe's), but they stick to my teeth which is rather annoying. Another post (can't remember who) said that there is a "Sharkie/Gummi Bear" type electrolyte/fructose "snack" that you can get at REI, that has 10x the "oomph" of Sharkies -- so you get the electrolyte replacement, plus the carbs, but get more "bang for your buck." Haven't tried these out tho, so don't know the "tooth-stick quotient" on them. Just a comment b/c you said Gummi Bears :-)
