Got talked in to running a marathon this weekend. Here's the background.
I ran this last Boston in 3:12. Trained approx. 80 mpw with speedwork. I was shooting for a sub 3(PR is 3:04) but it just wasn't my day. I went through the half in 1:30ish and you can figure out the rest.
Since Boston I have had a couple of real easy weeks and then about 5 or 6 weeks of 70 mpw, all at an easy aerobic pace. I did race a very hilly and warm half 3 weeks ago finishing around 1:30. Longest run since Boston is 14 miles, a week after the half. Ran 73 miles, all easy, last week and will "taper" this week.
The marathon I'm running is a point to point with a gradual elevation loss of about 300 ft. I'm a decent downhill runner. Assuming good conditions, what are some predictions? I'm also up for some advice on how to tackle this. This is also my 20th marathon so it's not my first rodeo, but I'm usually a lot more prepared.
I'll post the results. Heck, maybe I'll start a new training plan if things work out. :)
