Thanks, that's reassuring. Are gels really necessary if I drink enough Gatorade along the way? I've been trying to stay on a training regiment, but my schedule doesn't allow me to follow it religiously. The most I've run so far was 21 miles. That was on an indoor track and I was able to drink regularly during it. But that was when I didn't have the proper shoes, so my ankle and foot were really soar for the next couple of days. But even without that concentrated foot pain, my whole body was pretty well run down to the point where 5 more miles would have really been a challenge. Just knowing this is normal will help me tough it out I think.
