I had a stress fracture of the left foot in the middle of March. I couldn't run for more than a month, and during that time, I was cross training at the gym, where I had friends to commiserate with my misfortune. I also read a lot about running, and kept in touch with other marathon runners. I remember reading in Bob Glover's book that a strategy for dealing with the healing period is to maintain your normal routines as much as is possible. For example, if you usually run in the mornings, (and your physical state allows) then take a brisk walk at that time or ride a stationary bicycle. Don't lose track of your running partner during your convalescence. Hope that helps. JRZ
