New to Board: Disabled - Need Walking Training Advice for Races

Hello,

I'm new to the group and am looking to connect with folks who can provide training advice for me. My disability is that my spine is completely fused T3 - sacrum; spine is anchored into pelvis. I'm 9 months postop from surgery and am VERY thankful I'm alive and pain free.

I walk 5 miles every day because it is part of my therapy. I walked my first race in my life today, a 5k finished in 59 minutes. Am curious to know how a disabled walker should train for a 1/2 marathon.

Warmly, Doreen
