Boston marathon is in three weeks (yesterday) so I am 'officilally' in my taper period. This is such a critical period... As a triathlete I know what to do before a target race: take a week off (light swimming, one speed session on the track, bike to work). An Olympic distance event in the triathlon is under 2 h 30 minutes, which may appear long (for me it's typically 25 minutes in the water, 1h15 on the bike, 42 minutes on the run + transitions) but because of the variety factor you don't really get tired (not even in training). The marathon is a different game and the taper is so much more important... hence, my nervousness.

I've decided (largely on the advice on my Marathon Guide BB friend) to use the taper program I used two years ago (before the Quebec City marathon) instead of last year's (before Boston).

But the one thing new is that I now feel over-trained (I pushed, maybe too hard, after returning from a hip/sacro-illiacs injury). Does this mean I have to slow down even more during my taper? Or will the taper by itself take care of the over-training I feel?

BTW the first sign (for me) of over-training is edginess (and, man, is my fuse short these days!)
