Hi, I saw your post. For what it is worth, I experienced something similar about 2 years ago. In my case it was a severely strained muscle, but it walked and talked like a stress fracture. My physical therapist was himself a runner, which helped. The first 30 days or so are probably the most important. What worked for me was like a "reverse Galloway" style. 2 minutes running followed by 4 minutes walking. It could take some discipline to do that at first. You will not go as far or as fast as you remember. The next week, I switched to like a "3-3" mix. You will need to see how you bounce back. Err on the side of caution. Hope that helps.
