Stress fracture in Vibram Five Fingers

I'm a 54yr old male who has been running about 5yrs. I've done 7 marathons,2 50Ks and many shorter races. Training usually 25-40mi per week. I became intrigued by the whole barefoot/minimalist movement a year ago and purchased VFF Bikilas for some of my mileage. I built up slowly and recently have been running close to half my mileage in them but never over 6mi at a time. 2 weeks ago I developed a stress fracture in the 2nd metatarsal of my right foot. I really enjoyed running in these shoes but if this is the result obviously I have to stop! Anyone else had this experience? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks! Greg
