Only half of all available registrations left
Although April 4, 2003 is still a long way away, preparations for the
largest Swiss marathon are already in full swing. To this date (4 months
before the official registration deadline) the Zurich Marathon committee
has already received more than 3600 entries, i.e. about half of the number
of available registrations. So far, runners from 17 different countries
have signed up. Due to the fact that last year's first Zurich marathon was
such a huge success, the organizing committee has decided to increase the
allowable number of runners from 5000 to 7000. "We are convinced that we
can deliver a quality event even with 40% more participants," says Bruno
Lafranchi, President of the Organizing Committee and Race Director. Shortly
after the first Zurich Marathon last April, the majority of marathon
runners who participated in an online survey gave the event a positive
review. More than 80% of those surveyed rated the race as "good" or "very
good". Thanks to our sponsors the entry fee stays the same at 65.00 Euro.
Included in the entry fee are food and beverages during and after the race,
a finisher t-shirt, a finisher medal, coupons to the pasta party and 3-day
pass for unlimited travel on the Zurich public transportation system (VBZ)
within city zone 10 (tram and "S-Bahn" train).
