Barclays Milano City Marathon 2012:
Top Runners, Road to London
MILAN, April 14th, 2012. Winning in Milan to reach London Olympics: this is
the goal of the bunch of top runners that will start tomorrow in the 12nd
edition of Milan City Marathon organized by Consorzio Milano Marathon (RCS
Sport-La Gazzetta dello sport and Rosa & Associati).
Federico Rosa, Technical Director of the race, said during the official
presentation of top runners panel that this will be the leit motiv of the
event.
"For the first time in the history of Milan Marathon we had so many
athletes that requested to run, as they think that Milan is a great
opportunity to make the Olympics. From this point of view for Brazilian
runners this will be a real trial".
Also Andrea Trabuio, Director of the race, said that this could be the
right year to beat the race record of 2h7’53" established in 2008.
Samuel Kosgei, from Kenya, is expected to be the right pace-maker to reach
this goal.
Naibei, winner of 2011 edition, Gemechu, Wedajo, Too and Kurgat are the top
runners this year.
Among women Bedada, Koshei and local hero Emma Quaglia will struggle for
victory.
