Qualifying for Boston in your first try is possible but not very realistic. First timers are capable of running steady pace through the first 20 miles, but the final 6.2 is a another matter. (You will know what I'm talking about as it happens) Based upon your Oct. half-marathon you'll likely run in the 3:55 range — which is pretty good — but still 20 minutes slower than the BQ for your age.
My advice: a 3:50 - 3:55 finish is a good place to start. Then prep for the 3:35 BQ next time out. Good luck!
