I have run 3 half marathons before and I am going to run my first full marathon in a few weeks.
I am not the fastest runner... but it doesn't mean I don't like running. I LOVE IT!
I've always done my training based off the book Runner's World Complete Book of Women's Running by Dagny Barrios. She uses the minutes philosphy and doesn't EVER talk in terms of miles. Which is fine w/ me because I love running- and I always set my goal to finish strong with my head high!
The book says to run no more than 3 1/2 hours in pre-race training. It says no matter how many miles I do... I will be good.
But I run... SLOW. With my walk breaks I'll only get 16 MAYBE 17 miles completed in this time. She really discourages going over the training in the book because of injuries. Since this is my FIRST FULL I am scared because all other programs talk in terms of miles and the minimum seems to be 18 or 20!
My halfs I've only done about 8-9 before and the course always motivated me through to the end... and 8+8=16...
Am I alright, will I be hurt? I'm just nervous as I have started my prerace taper, and I am having 2nd thoughts....
