I am training for a marathon that is in January of 09 and this month is my first serious training month. It will be my first - I am really a run/walker... I ran/walked 1/2 marathon last January in 3 hours and 15 minutes. I am hoping to run/walk the whole marathon in 6 - 7 hours. I will be 50 next year and hope that my time will improve over the next 5 years to a "respectable" 4 hours.
I liked your response on adding 1/2 a mile a week to your longest 3 runs the first week training.... or ummmm.... what you said....
