I'm sorry, but can't they just get a babysitter or have a family member/friend/neighbor come to the race to watch with their kids? That's great if he trains that way, but you don't need to do it in a race. Its the same thing with people who bring their babies to the movies...that's great if you watch movies together at home and deal with the baby/toddler crying, but there is no reason to ruin my (rated R or PG-13) movie because of your kid.
