Congratulations for signing up for your first marathon! You are going to be addicted in no time. :) I signed up for my first marathon on a whim too. A great resource is a book called "4 months to a 4 hour marathon." They have a great training plan for beginning marathoners (they start you off with really simple runs - like 3 miles - and gradually build you up). The book also has a lot of great information about marathon training, too. Make sure to set a goal for your first race - whether its just to finish, make it in a certain time, etc. It will make training much more enjoyable!! Good luck with training, and no - signing up is no where near a mistake! Keep us posted!
