How slow is too slow?

Okay...I hope this isn't beating a dead horse. I am 61 yrs. old and still like to participate in long distance running events like half and full marathons. When I was in my mid 30's (my first marathon life) I ran times between 3 1/2 and 4 hours, but now in my 60's (my second marathon life) it takes me 5 1/2 to 6 hours. My last marathon on an 80+ degree day was 6 1/2 hours. As a friend of mine puts it, he is slow but stubborn. I would like to hear from other runners of all abilities how they feel about this issue. Thanks...
