In the Fall I started running again for the first time in about three years. Typically, I run on a treadmill, but I recently signed up for a short race [10k], which is my first running event in easily 12 years. In an effort to get ready, I decided that I should start running outside or on the track. So far, this is going great! Usually on the treadmill I get over-heated really quickly, which limits my speed and distance, but I have found that I don't have the same problem in other settings. Today, I went 8 miles, which is the farthest I have gone... probably ever, actually. For the first time I felt like I may have the capacity to actually be *good* at running. It was wonderful! Unfortunately, however, I have been sick to my stomach *all* night since then, and I chose to stop running before I was worn out because of GI discomfort.
So, my question is this: Will my stomach adjust to longer distances and increased intensity over time? For the first time I feel as though I may have to ability to someday run the 26.2, and I will be SO sad if I can't because my stomach hates me.
Any suggestions?
