I decided to run a marathon when I was 45 and couldn't run 1.5 miles without stopping to walk several times. It took about two years for me to get there, but I did make it across the finish line a couple of months ago.
You will have good days and bad days running, just like you do at anything else. Be sure to get yourself a good pair of shoes from a running store.
Running a marathon is relatively easy compared to training for a marathon. One day in August when you cruise through mile six and you don't even feel like you're working hard, you'll think back on these first few weeks of training and wonder if you are really the same person who collapsed on the floor after a mile. By that point you won't be.
