There is nothing to be concerned about with regards to your mile to mile pace variations four months into beginning running program ... in fact, pace variations are a training technique known as tempo running. At this point, it is very important that you not be overly concerned with speed. It is more important that you develop good "system memory" through good form running. If you concentrate more on good form than on speed then you can progress more reliably without injury. An injury can wipe out months of training putting you back to square one. Since you probably have good innate running abilities by what you have said, you will have a natural tendency to try to get fast quickly .... use a certain degree of restraint. Study the difference between aerobic and anaerobic training.
