Limiting the extent of pronation is absolutely key. It sounds like you already know this by investing in the stability insoles — a good call. The Asics GT shoe is another good choice. But at 175 lbs. you might also want to consider a pair of Asics GEL- Kayano 14s next time you're shopping for shoes.
Once your cranky knees settle down please let me know how the return to training goes. (PS: stay off concrete sidewalks as much as you possibly can)
