I don't think too many promo people bother to read a BB like this one. If you want to catch fish, go where the fish are.
If I were you, I'd contact every running related company in the US — footwear, apparel, nutrition, accessories, et al. Another very direct approach — walk the aisles at a big race expo, introduce yourself, leave a resume, and start making direct overtures to the very companies who'd love to plug in a passionate guy like you.
Remember this fact: promotional types hire people who know how to promote themselves first.
