I have to agree with the others on this. If you train properly for the race (which you should) you just don't have enough time. Even athletes who have a great talent for running would need a lot more time. You have to give your tendons, muscles and bones a chance to thicken and strengthen. This takes time. Toward the end of training you'll be going out on some real long runs and although it might feel OK you'll be unknowingly putting yourself at great risk. Think about a half Marathon in the Fall. Look towards 2009 for your Marathon debut. Trust us on this. I know it's hard.
