Congrats on your half marathon win... you won MONEY?! That's so awesome. Don't worry about your finishing time, that will come- you qualified for Boston at Boston (which I think is tough to do) so I know you're speedy :) We were living parallel lives I think. I actually won my very first race on Thanksgiving day- a 5k and I NEVER run 5ks. I wasn't going to do it because I did a longer tempo run two days before and then a quick 5 miler and lifted the day before so I knew that I wouldn't perform well. I asked my husband how fast I would have to go to break 20 minutes and we figured it to be 6:26 pace- waaaaaay too quick for me right now and he told me there was no way I could do it. That was all I needed to hear... 19:57 and a PR by 2+ minutes :) Shows what he knows. However, I managed to win a race that doesn't keep track of results or anything like that so it figures... I know the feeling you're describing about your stomach. I think that mine is still a bit swollen above the incision site a year later. It took a while to not feel it at all so give it time, it will go away. Maybe due to your surgery and being busy with school you should just consider focusing on Boston and forget about racing anything before. Winter is a tough time to train especially if you have alot going on in other areas of your life. I'm sure you will figure out what's best for you to do! Glad to see you back on the board- hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
