Yeah, I mostly walk my marathons these days. My knees and achilles tendons thank me for that.
Fortunately, unless it is one of those races where they give the slow-pokes a huge head start, I don't have a problem with too many people walking several abreast.

PS: this article is written by a racewalke who normally walks a 3:3X marathon; my walks are typically 5:12-5:35 or so.
