You would generally use Body Glide where you experience friction. I use it on my inner tighs, under my butt cheeks and a couple of places under my sports bra. Those are the locations, for me, that I experience friction on my long runs.

As for gels, if you haven't used them during your training, I would not bring them with me to the race.
