It really helps to train with a "committed" group, one where you all have committed yourself to a some kind of goal such as raising money for charity, losing weight/getting fit, paid money to be trained, etc.
In my case, I trained with Team in Training (TNT) and having them for support really kept me on schedule. Also, it helped me a lot to see people affiliated with them during the actual event, a confidence booster that I would finish.
