Well, I am pretty certain that you can't tell me how long I'll live, and I know how to lose the belly fat. Actually, to be more accurate, it's not belly fat, it's more like extra skin. If you see those people who lose tons of weight and then have extra skin that hangs down--that's my issue. I am a tiny girl and had two ten pound babies back to back. So everything is stretched beyond where it should have gone. I would NEED plastic surgery to make it go away. It looks fine in clothes, you can't tell--but I can tell when it's just me and a mirror. So--what I am looking for is actual information between extra fat around the middle of the body and how it connects to having a heart attack; I thought I read somewhere that you had to have a waist of 34 or less inches and that reduces the chances of heart attack. True or not? If I go to see my doctor what do I ask him to test for in order for me to feel good about the health of my heart? Blood tests? Taking my blood pressure doesn't seem like it would be enough. What are the statistics of healthy women (especially runners) who die of heart attacks? What things should I do to reduce the risk of having one? Where can I find out more about health and health risks and heart attacks and middle aged (yes, that's me) women. I am a type A personality, PhD, white, middle class, 2 kids, run every day and eat well, don't smoke or drink....sounds like a personal ad, but you get the point. Shelley (41runningmom)
