This is obscene. The whole premise behind the weeks/months/years of training, is to prepare your body/mind for the rigors of the 26.2 test. If you haven't prepared...don't do it. Understanding the value of the 'entries' to the events, as well as the fundraising to the organizations, the act itself is still abhorrent. Funny how the RD's who rail against 'bandits' of any kind, and attribute the exploded race fees, etc, to these 'cheaters' have no problem cheapening their own event by allowing, or at least ignoring the practice of having these people choosing their distance because 'they are doing a good thing and it would be a shame if they didn't have medal to show for it. Maybe they should cut off hunks of the medal appropriate to the distance the runner has cut off the course, and allow these sanctimonious do-gooders to explain that to the 'joneses' as their neighbours come by their living room and see their testament to themselves, and their 'accomplishment'. Why not let the charities participate in a run/walk 'athon', where their pledges are based on their mileage. They can then participate, and whatever distance they complete, is the end. Don't cheapen it by calling it a 'marathon'.

Guess I am a little riled
