This guy seems to have done its research and the information is public so it should be easy for a charity to summarize their source of funds, expense ratios and allocation.

The point here is that aside from the ~25% of your contribution that goes to pay for the runners trip, training etc,,, the charity incurs other operationg cost like any organisation (staff, advertising and other cost not specificaly related to the charity event).

It is therefore incorrect that 75% goes to research. ~50% is more accurate. Therefore donors would do better by 1) donating directly to the charity instead of sponsoring a runner 2) check the expense ratio to see how efficient the charity is.(this varies wildly)

No matter how noble the cause and the fact that ultimately some money goes to it we shouldnt lose sight of the fact that charities are human organisations subject to the same flaws as any other (ie a lot of people live and prosper from it, protect their turf etc,,,)
