As someoen who just finished my first marathon (Atlant Marathon) I worked hard to train and finish the race. Though it took me 4 hours to do so, and despite the fact that I had ample opportunity to quit and take a train to the finish, I did not. And to hear of people cheating this way just makes it harder for those of us that work our asses off to finish the race. I had become a bit dehydrated during the race and had to walk to a water stand, but once I got replenished, I continued on to the finish. My legs were sore after the race and still are a day later, but I expected that.

I am now working towards the Disney half and Full (I am going Goofy) and hopefully the problem reported at the Marine Corp Marathon does not "creep" up. I realize these charaties do good work, but they need to let thier team members know that a marathon is not an easy thing to do. There is no same in dropping out, but plenty of shme in getting a medal for something you did not earn.
