As annie2go suggested I went to the Jeansmarines web site to read Jean's "apology" (which she issued reluctantly after her earlier excuses did not fly). Unfortunately I am not as impressed with the "honesty" of the apology as annie is. Jean apologizing for making a "mistake" but from all reports what she did was deliberate, planned fraud. To me that doesn't qualify as a mistake and for her to call it that tells me that she still doesn't get it. In a separate statement she also said that now that they have been barred from the Marine for 2006, they are checking out other fall marathons for their runners. That tells me that, despite her talk of encouraging her people to finish shorter races, she is not quit ready to give up her claim that any woman can go from couch potato to marathon finisher in 10 months.
