Maybe some should. Thump(her) that is. It is better to sit there quietly and appear stupid rather than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. We have no doubt about you now Bambi. It is really too bad that you don't offer anything constructive for runners. You seem to be real good and slamming people you know nothing about and have really not gotten the grasp of this post.
From what I read, charity runners as well as those that aren't part of that community agree that cheating is unacceptable. Each person does their event for their own personal reasons. If they can live with themselves for cheating, then let them. It doesn't effect any of us. I have run (probably not by your definition) 7 marathons both as a charity runner and as an independent. I have volunteered for countless other events. As a volunteer, I have witnessed people cutting across town and not doing the full course. The majority of them are not charity runners. Why, because they are motivate by more selfish motives that those you call "charity cheaters"
I am sorry that you were asked to leave whatever charity group you were with. The ones I know about are caring and generous, and they probably got their fill of you and your nasty attitude is why they didn't want any part of you.
Now that you got your hate out on those that rejected you, maybe you should start a post on wheelchair athletes. I'm sure you have an opinion on how they ruined "your" marathoning experience. You probably consider them cheaters and non-athletes as well.
For the record, TNT and others use running events for a means of raising funds. This is just one way that people can choose to get involved. The Leukemia-Lymphoma Society has Light the Night in hundreds of communities around the US. They have many avenues for raising funds, and running events is just one. TNT was really the first and others have followed because it works. If anyone wants to help a charity you don't have to donate to a runner. Do something good and pick one. Write a check to Susan G. Kommen Foundation for Breast Cancer, or AIDS, or to the MS Society. They will all be happy to take your donation, and you don't have to feel you helped a "cheater". But let those who want to complete a marathon do so without generalizing. After all, many people competing are afflicted with the disease or aliment they are trying to eradicate.
