Cheating the real finishers

It's the real finishers who put in dozens of hours, hundreds of miles, purchased dozens of shoes, and get cheated. I have finished several marathons, and each one took hours and hours of training. Injuries, loss of family time, cost to participate, and so on. I ran and finished. I ran each marathon exactly 26.2 miles. The only help I got was fan support. That is the meaning of finishing, by yourself, all 26.2 miles. Real finishers get cheated for all the hard work. Charity groups must prepare their runners to finish, to finish on their own. Why compete at all. Why cheat yourself and not complete the 26.2 on your own. I could never live with the fact that I needed a car to drive me closer to the finish. What a shame.
