I applaud Rick Nealis for disqualifying the cheating charity runners. If these charity participants are being decieved into thinking that it is acceptable to participate in the practice of finishing a marathon by surreptitious means then their sponsor should be banned from future races. I admire anyone who takes on the added burden of soliciting funds for a worthy cause but, if road racing is to be considered a legitimate sport, this cannot be used as a justification for cheating. Yes, sometimes we train our ass off for months, then for whatever reason, come up short on race day. Most marathoners have experienced a DNF and we know it's part of the game and we also know that if we don't go the full distance we don't get the finishers medal no matter how good a person we are.
