I don't want to deny charity runners (or walkers) anything, what they do is admirable! But if they can't finish the race, they can still be proud of what they did accomplish and have cherished memories without taking credit for something they didn't do.

This is our sport, and it has one rule: cover 26 miles, 385 yards under your own power. Anyone, regardless of what brought them there, who doesn't understand the need to preserve the integrity of the sport by following that one rule has no business being on the starting line.
