Here's an even better idea: let them raise the money for charity and then not run at all. The race can just mail them their medal (which would be a special one for "charity" walkers only), they can brag about all the money they raise for charity, and the rest of us can go run.
I have a major problem with some of the "charities" in any case, because a lot of the "charities" let their runners use the money they collect to pay the runners' *personal* expenses (race entries, travel, accommodations, etc.) I guess its clear to whom the "charity" is being extended.
