A real web gem...
I thought it was well known, but at the starting line of a recent race, many people had never heard of it.

The gmap pedometer uses the (most excellent) Google Maps application and allows you to measure short distances with great accuracy. There's also a link to TinyUrl so you can bookmark your favorite training routes (here's an example...my favorite 18 miler:

Now I can print my route and leave it on the counter before I go. That way, if I'm not back in 12 hours, my wife knows where to send the bloodhounds.
