I don't think you need to run the 26 miles before the race. If you can run an 18 and a 20 before the race you will make it. On race day you will be nervous and excited and the crowd will be cherring you on. All this makes the adrenaline flow and you will just make it across. If is really far and pays a toll on your body. If your starting out running marathons you shouldn't put yourself through it even a month a part. Remember you need to taper off the last three weeks before the race.
