Sorry, Dave, but I disagree with you this time. We place far too much emphasis on thinness and low weight, when that is often counter productive to running. The human body fights to maintain homeiostais and when the caloric intake is lower then energy expendaure, metabolism will slow down and energy ie calories will be conserved. Eating less is not always the answer.

I have also found that my "ideal" weight is not what my body wants to weigh and I run better at 135 then at 127. Eat what makes you feel good and when the food no longer tastes good, stop eating. THere is no need to deprive yourself. I would definatly recommend that you increase the caloric intake as the amount of exercise increases. I eat far more during marathon training, when I'm at about 50 miles a week then during recovery or maintanice running. Try it. Eating more can't hurt with the amount of exercise runners get.
