This is an old thread but I'm new to this board. I compete as a Clydesdale (female) runner and don't find the term offensive. If the Deena Kastors of the world are the Kentucky Derby winners, those of us plodding through a marathon in 4+ hours are the workhorses. Is that bad? With some exceptions, those of who weigh 130/140/150 lbs and up can't compete for age-group prizes against women who weigh about 100 pounds. I've won many Clydesdale awards, often because so few "heavy" women show up to run. I'd love to have more competition for those beer glasses and plaques.
