Philly hills

I've run Philly 3 times, including my marathon PR in 98. Philly isn't a particularly hilly course. The first eight miles are basically a long slight grade down followed by a long slight grade up. Mile nine is a bit steeper upgrade followed by a mile of downhill followed by the "worst" hill on the course (and its not bad) from the river up to the Exhibition Hall (check it out with a short walk from the expo on saturday). After a mile or so of flat running you head back down to the river and begin another mile of slight upgrade. 14 to the finish is an out and back. A slight down to flat run from 14 to 18 and then two or three smallish hills bracketing the turnaround at 20 in Manyunk (consider the restaurants in Manyunk for dinner Saturday night). Of course, the last 4 miles or so are a slight uphill grade.
