I don't know about that. I've done six marathons, and I've found that I do better in both the race and the training runs if I have something to eat about 1 hour to 30 minutes before the event. I'm talking about a real meal here, too, like waffles with bananas and a glass of milk. If I eat four hours before the race, I'm starving when I line up.
