I trained for my first marathon right after having twins and I also experienced lower back and hip pain. I started seeing a chiropractor and it really helped. I just finished training for my third marathon (Chicago this week). I make a rule to visit once before and after each race and once after any long training runs (18 miles or more). I have not had any back problems since. Make sure you get a good one and not a "quack". Things to watch out for is if they pressure you to come in all the time or try to "treat" other things like colds etc. In my opinion leave that to your regular doctor. Good luck!
